I was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee. Now I call Atlanta, Georgia, and Brevard, North Carolina home. After earning a B.A. in Art from the University of Georgia in 1998, I furthered my graphic design and illustration studies at The Creative Circus in Atlanta. For about a decade I worked as a freelance designer before taking a break to focus on my family. During this break, I began making abstract paintings with my kids and showed my work in several galleries around Atlanta.
In 2019, I discovered a new passion for quilting after taking a Quilting 101 class with Diana at Fabricate Studios. I quickly became obsessed with the craft. I also have learned from and been influenced by Sherri Lynn Wood, Denyse Schmidt, the Gee's Bend quilters, and my talented friend Linda Doherty.
I work improvisationally, primarily with repurposed, upcycled fabrics. Using a sewing machine to piece the fabric, each quilt is finished by hand, either stitched with Perle cotton thread or tied with yarn. My quilts can provide comfort as functional pieces or be displayed as art on the wall.
